Balance & Strength

Experiencing the following shoulder symptoms?

  • Pain in the shoulder when raising your arm overhead

  • Deep aching shoulder pain after exercise or activity

  • Lack of range to reach behind your back

  • Difficulty taking off t-shirts, bras etc

  • Pain and weakness during gym exercises, especially pushing ones

  • Numbness, coldness, pin and needles from upper arm to fingers

  • A feeling of shoulder instability during sport

  • Noticeable weakness compared to the other shoulder

Physiotherapy can usually assist in the above presentations by a thorough clinical assessment. This will then be followed by an explanation of your likely diagnosis and treatment plan that’s tailored to your specific circumstances.

Depending on your condition, a specific hands-on treatment strategy is usually employed to restore the joint restrictions and muscle adhesions common after a shoulder injury. We typically use meaningful reference tests to gauge your baseline and use this to re-assess progress as we treat from session to session. For example, the ease of which an individual can put on or take off a specific shirt provides an accurate picture of the real-world progress.

Due to our extensive experience working in a gym environment, our Physiotherapist can coach a patient thorough a gym program that will not only rehab your current injury, but will prevent future shoulder problems from arising.

In all cases of shoulder rehabilitation, we always tailor a home exercise program that takes into account the level of equipment someone has or doesn't have access to.

Most non-traumatic shoulder injuries will typically require 4 to 6 treatment sessions over the course of 2 to 3 weeks to notice a significant and meaningful improvement. Chronic cases or those involving a degree of trauma may take slightly longer, up to 3 to 4 months.
